I would love to hear from you!
Welcome to my online journal.
Hello, my name is Morgan. If you want to know about me please keep reading, if not, welcome anyway. I feel it's my duty as a middle aged woman to have a blog, so here's mine. I hope you enjoy!
I grew up living the simple life in rural Oregon. In the 80's life was different and in my eyes so much better. Ah, the nostalgia. At the age of 18 I left my small town and started my journey to adulthood in Iceland as a foreign exchange student. This experience gave me a thirst for travel amongst other things. My 20's consisted of trips back to Iceland, all over Europe, Mexico, and western Africa. During that time I attended college and earned a few degrees. I ended my educational journey with a few Master degrees and slowly built a career as a mental health consultant. During the pandemic being a mental health provider was daunting. Navigating my own stress, taking care of my children, family, friends, colleagues, and those clients/patients I was responsible for. Needless to say, my candle burnt out.
In 2012 my father passed away. I didn't know how to process it until one day, I started writing to him. We had a complicated relationship, but through writing I created/repaired the bridge between us. Thus, the Dynamic Life Project was born. 10 years of stories, letters to my father, poetry, artwork, personal and shared experiences, encouragement. It became my outlet, my way of reestablishing roots.
In 2022, I turned 40 and needed a shift. I needed to find a new candle to burn so to speak. My husband is Icelandic so we made the decision to leave everything behind and move back to his family farm in Northern Iceland. We sold all our belongings (including our newly remodelled 100 year old house...sad) loaded up our two small children and our 16 year old cat and hopped on a plane. Icelandic-ish was born out of the dynamic life I've created for myself.
Join me as I head out on new adventures, learn a new language, navigate a new culture and small town life, jump back into remodelling/creating a home, and most importantly, living on a farm in rural Iceland. This is going to be a new a new chapter. Back to the simplistic revelry of small town life... and cows, lots of cows.
Welcome!
Morgan
